The bottles…

We tasted some very fine whisky at Dramboree this year indeed, and thought that it would be silly not to tease you with a few photos of the wonderful delicious and sometimes rare whiskies that people brought along to share…

IMG_20150703_201341It’s not meant to be a competition, however this year we arranged a little something special to thank people who brought along whiskies that the group as a whole thought were remarkable.  Of extra special mention of course is Phil Woodhead’s delicious 25yo 1965 Cadenhead’s Glenturret – the winner of the inaugural Top Dram vote, and it was Phil’s inaugural Dramboree as well!  We’re not saying you *have* to keep bringing bottles like that Phil, but you’ll be the most popular kid on the block…

We 2015-07-04 20.47.28were also very lucky to have our Swedish buddy Tomas “St Magdalene” Karlsson along, and one of the whiskies he brought along was (it probably doesn’t come as a huge surprise) a St Magdalene!  This Lowland distillery (demolished in 1983) is something of a passion of Tomas’s, and it’s becoming a rarer & rarer treat to have a chance to try one.  Tomas came 2nd because… well… his whisky didn’t get as many votes as Phil’s did!  That’s how it works.  To find out more about St Magdalene, have a look at Tomas’s website: http://www.stmagdalene.com/

FullSizeRenderAnd from the excellent to the… equally memorable.  Our mate Jon “DVDBloke” Webb from Scotch and SciFi brought along a bottle of intriguing Embrujo de Granada from Spain, and whilst a notably distinctive whisky it received unanimous enthusiasm from our Dramboristas on this occasion.

Thanks to everyone for bringing such a broad and eclectic selection of whisky for the weekend, which certainly gave us plenty to savour and discuss throughout the weekend.  The photos are by no means exhaustive, and no two Dramborees are ever the same.

And finally (and VERY importantly) a huge thankyou to Glencairn Crystal for our magnificent awards – as well as producing our Dramboree souvenir tasting glasses again this year.
